When was the last time you rose, victorious, like a phoenix from the ashes?

Anyone can be burned, crushed, consumed. But not everyone chooses to rise. Grace is the air that turns our cinders to ashes and our ashes to wings. Rise. Then rise again.

Change of Plans

Between being busy and just not having a lot to talk about, I haven't been blogging like I had intended.

I did polish up my trip to Canada and estimate a total cost of $3500.   The unknown is the total cost for taxi transportation and meals.  I received my Capital One card, activated it, and have been using it.  It will become my new go-to card as it offers 1.5% cash back versus 1% on my Citi card.

I ordered a Mobal International phone for travel.  The cost of the phone isn't too bad but the minute rates are.  But, I plan on this phone being used only for emergencies and it is suppose to work in 190 countries including Canada, Ireland, England, Scotland, and Japan which are all countries I know I will be visiting soon.  After looking at a variety of options, I think this one is the best.

My Valentine present bra was received and they have shipped out a new one in the correct size.  I should get it in a few days.

I went to see Aida on Wednesday.  I also went to the doctor the same day.  The procedures they did on me zapped me.  Unfortunately, I was only able to stay for 2 acts before I left because I was too tired.  I have never been to an Opera before so I don't know if 30 minute intermissions between EACH act is normal but I didn't like that.  I do like an intermission for shows, but more than one is overkill.

At the doctor's I got two moles removed.  They are being biopsied despite my wishes but I'm sure they are okay.  The other thing they did was start the process of laser hair removal on my face.  Each treatment needs to be 4 weeks apart and I'll need at least 6.  So, it will take 6 months before I start to see results.  I'm excited to do it, and if it works well I'll probably get my arms, underarms, and feet done too.  I may look into my bikini line.

Let me just say, laser hair removal hurts!  Don't let anyone tell you different.  Although, I don't seem to have had a bad reaction to it, which it good.  I'm nervous about scarring.  It is my face after all.  They had to shave the hair off, something I have never done on my face, and now it is all stubbly feeling.  I hate it.  I can't wax or pluck anymore.  All I can do it shave until the treatments start to work.  It is killing me not being able to pluck the hairs out.  They said that for the next two weeks it will feel like there is more hair but it is just the hair under the skin coming out to fall out.  And, at four weeks, a new cycle of dormant hair should appear to be ready for the next treatment. Right now things are worse than before and I'm not seeing any hair fall out (even though my mom, who is doing this with me, is).  I hope this works and after the 6 months I really don't have facial hair to worry about.

I also saw an ad at the doctor's for some cream which is suppose to help with fat loss, cellulite, and toning.  I'm tempted even though I doubt it will work.

I was going to go on a road trip this morning to take a tour at a spot I was interested in seeing and then stopping for Japanese food for lunch.  However, it turns out they have stopped doing tours for the season and the next one isn't until March.  =(  Well, boo!

So, I am making homemade cinnamon rolls instead, which was an item on my bucket list.  I hope they turn out good.
